T’gana CM Reddy accuses Kishan Reddy of delaying metro phase-2 expansion

Hyderabad, June 15 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday accused union Minister G. Kishan Reddy of obstructing the transfer of a Rs 13,600-crore Metro loan, thereby delaying the proposed 122-km Hyderabad Metro Phase-2 project.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Revanth Reddy said the Metro project was brought to Hyderabad during the Congress regime and alleged that the BRS government delayed Phase-1 by three years, causing the project cost to rise from Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 22,000 crore. He said no efforts were made to expand the Metro over the past decade.
The Chief Minister said L&T declined to undertake Phase-2 due to heavy losses from Phase-1. Following the Centre's advice, the Telangana government acquired Metro assets worth Rs 30,000 crore for Rs 15,000 crore and sought to refinance L&T's Rs 13,600-crore loan through IRFC at a lower 4 per cent interest rate.
