SWR waives off demurrage, wharfage charges till Apr 14

Hubballi, Mar 30 (UNI) As Indian Railways had kept movement of freight trains throughout the country to maintain availability of essential materials and commodities, the South Western Railways on Monday waived off demurrage and wharfage charges of all goods and parcels for stacking, detention and ground usage of goods and parcel freight traffic up to April 14.
Earlier the Indian Railways had stopped running of passenger trains till 14th April to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"South Western Railways (SWR) has decided to waiver all charges for wharfage i.e. fees charged for not removing goods from the railway premises after expiry of the free time permitted to remove the same. So also demurrage charges have been removed i.e. fees levied for detaining the wagons after expiry of free time for goods and parcels at stations", sources said.
