SW Monsoon intensifies further in HP: IMD

Shimla, Jul 5 (UNI) South West Monsoon on Friday intensified in the remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh
after hitting Shimla, Solan, Kinnuar, Sirmaur and Lahaul Spiti on July 2, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to Shimla Met Office Director Manmohan Singh, rains lashed districts of Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una.
During the last 24 hrs significant rainfall was recorded in Dharmshala in Kangra 58 mm followed by Kauasli in Solan 42 mm, Naina Devi in Bilkaspur 34 mm, Aghar in Hamirpur 28mm, Paonta Sahib 27 mm, Berthin in Bilaspur 25 mm, Bhoranj in Hamirpur 24 mm, Pachhad in Sirmaur 23 mm, Palampur in Kangra 21 mm, Solan 19 mm, Rampur in Shimla 17 mm, Sarahan in Shimla 15 mm, Khadrala 14 mm, Mehre in Kangra and Dalhousie in Chamba 12 mm.
Hamirpur received 10 mm rainfall followed by Nahan in Sirmaur nine mm. Rajgarh eight mm, Pooh and Kalpa in Kinnuar, Banjar in Kulu, Sarkaghat in Mandi, Sangrah in Sirmaurand Gagal in Kangra received seven mm rainfall each, Jubberhati in Shimla, Bijahi of Mandi six mm each , Karsog and Janjehli in Mandi, Kufri in Shimla and Chahatrari in Chamba five mm each respectively.
The state has received an average 74. 7mm of rainfall from Jun 1 to till date which was 42 per cent less than normal except Kinnuar which have five per cent more rainfall during this period, Dr Singh said.
The Met Office forecast light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at many places during the next three days and intensity of rain was likely to increase on July 8 and 9.
Warning of heavy rainfall was issued by the Met office at many places in mid and high reaches between July 6 to July 8 2019.
In 2018, Monsoon hit the hill state on Jun 27 and recorded about 927 mm rainfall, which was 21 per cent more than normal, he added.
