Suspected anthrax claims lives of domestic animals in Nagaland

Kohima, May 14 (UNI) Suspected outbreak of anthrax disease, which is zoonotic in the domestic animals, is reported to appeared in some parts of Longleng district of Nagaland, in which several cattle, Mithun and goat have died. According to official sources, Longleng Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom in an order has imposed ban on slaughtering, selling and import of cattle, Mithun and goat in the district with immediate effect until further order.
The DC Longleng stated that “necessary action against defaulters will be initiated as per the prevention and control of infectious and contagious diseases in Animal Act 2009 and other relevant sections of law,” sources said.

KSU seeks ‘independent inquiry’ into radiation leakage
