Sushma Swaraj heads to Dhaka to boost ties with Bangladesh

Dhaka, Oct 21 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrives in the Bangladesh capital Sunday afternoon on a two-day official visit during which the two neighbours will review the entire gamut of their bilateral relations and and explore new avenues for cooperation. Swaraj would lead the Indian delegation to India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting. Swaraj is expected to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the evening. Apart from bilateral issues, the huge influx of Rohingya refugees which has created humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh is likely to come up for discussion in both the meetings, Bangladesh Sambad Sanstha (BSS) news agency reported. Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will lead Bangladesh delegation to the meeting. It is Swaraj's second visit. She had visited to the country 2014 soon after taking over the external affairs ministry. Sunday's visit follows Finance minister Arun Jaitley's trip to Dhaka earlier this month that saw India operationalising a $4.5 billion line of credit that was finalised during Sheikh Hasina's trip to New Delhi in April. Swaraj is expected to flag 15 projects financed by India during her two-day visit. Swaraj is also expected to meet opposition Bangladesh National Party leader Begum Khaleda Zia. She will leave here on Monday afternoon. UNI XE-DEVN-SRJ SHK 1924
