New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Canadian counterpart Chrystia Freeland on Thursday discussed a range of issues including trade, investment, security and energy.
They held a strategic-level dialogue ahead of a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau on Friday.
In a tweet, Raveesh Kumar, Spokesperson of the ministry said, “External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Canadian Foreign Minister had wide ranging discussions on strengthening relations in trade and investment, security and cyber security, energy, people to people contacts and other relevant bilateral and regional issues.”
In the evening, the Canadian minister will meet Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu.
Ms Freeland is part of the delegation accompanying Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who is on an official visit to India.
Trudeau arrived here last week along with his family and a delegation of ministers and business leaders.
