Sushma's visit: India offers to set up IT park in Colombo

Colombo, Feb 6 (UNI) Touting its might in the field of IT, India today proposed to set up an Information Technology Park in Sri Lanka to attract investment and kick start IT application in a range of areas of governance and development of the island nation.
Speaking at the inaugural of 'Rise of Digital India Exhibition' in the capital, Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj said India has made significant progress in the information technology sector and it was ready to assist Sri Lanka in this sector.
"We are ready to set up an Information Technology Park in Sri Lanka that could attract investments in this important sector, and both sides agreed to explore this issue further. I am aware that Sri Lanka too, has been focusing on promoting information and communication technologies for socio-economic development, and has achieved notable success in various fields," Ms Swaraj said at the function attended by Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure of Sri Lanka Harin Fernando and senior officials of the Sri Lankan government and industry captains.
