Sushil, Bajrang, Vinesh expected to participate at National Wrestling in Punjab

Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, Asian Games gold medallist Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat are expected to participate in the senior national wrestling championship to be held at M S Bhullar Indoor Stadium in Jalandhar between November 29 and December 1.
The likes of Gurpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Gurpal Singh, Navjot Kaur and Gursharan Kaur are also likely to participate in the tournament.
Punjab will host the tournament after 24 years. This championship is very important as winners in each weight category will qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Punjab Wrestling Association president, Padma Shri Kartar Singh said, Wrestling Federation of India has allotted 64 Men and 22 Women for the tournament.
This championship would be dedicated to 550th Parkash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Meanwhile, Mr Singh also thanked WFI President, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh for allotting the championship to Punjab.
On the occasion, Punjab Wrestling Association Secretary and former Chief Coach of Indian Wrestling team P R Sondhi said, wrestling championship will be conducted on October 19-20 for selection of Punjab team ahead of National Wrestling Championship.
He also said that the Punjab Wrestling Association has roped in Iranian Coach Moazen Gholamreza for Punjab team. The PWA will also felicitate the winners of the tournament.
The live telecast of the event will be broadcast on various social and electronic media platforms.
