Surya-Rohit stand helps MI post 192/7 against PBKS

Mullanpur, Apr 18 (UNI) In a high-octane clash at the Maharaj Yadvindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mumbai Indians set a challenging target of 193 runs for Punjab Kings in the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians faced an early setback with Ishan Kishan departing for 8 runs, courtesy of a dismissal by Kagiso Rabada. However, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav showcased their batting prowess, steadying the innings with an impressive 81-run partnership for the second wicket.
Rohit Sharma played aggressively, scoring 36 runs off 25 deliveries, including two fours and three sixes, before being caught by Sam Curran off Karan Sharma's bowling in the 12th over. Suryakumar Yadav anchored the innings with a sublime knock, scoring 78 runs off 53 balls, featuring seven fours and three sixes, before falling to Karan Sharma.
Further contributions from Hardik Pandya (10), Tim David (14), and Romario Shepherd (1) helped Mumbai Indians reach a competitive total. Tilak Verma's unbeaten 34 off 18 balls, including two fours and two sixes, further propelled Mumbai Indians to a challenging score of 192/7.
In response, Harshal Patel led the bowling attack for Punjab Kings, claiming three crucial wickets, while Sam Curran and Kagiso Rabada supported with two and one wickets respectively.
With a target of 193 runs set by Mumbai Indians, the stage is set for an exciting chase as Punjab Kings look to secure victory in this thrilling encounter.
