Sukhbir holds meeting on celebrations of martyrdom of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur

Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal President and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today called on a meeting with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to discuss and finalise the strategies regarding 300th martyrdom day functions of great Sikh general and founder of Khalsa Raj Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
In the meeting attended by SGPC president Avtar Singh, MPs Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Cabinet Ministers Bikram Singh Majithia and Daljit Singh Cheema, the SAD chief said functions in this regard has already been started and world level events would be organised at different places to mark this historic event.
Mr Badal said these functions has been commenced with Gurmat Samagam held at Gurdas Nangal on May 20 and these functions would continue till June end. During the course of these functions, Nagar Kirtans dedicated to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, exhibition of weaponry ‘Shastar Didar’, poetic recitals and seminars would be organised besides a marathon in New Delhi.
