Sudden spike seen in ASF cases in Mizoram

Aizawl, Nov 11 (UNI) After a recent decline in daily pig fatalities due to the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Mizoram, Monday saw a sudden spike, with 68 pig deaths reported.
The remote village of Lopu in Siaha district accounted for 61 of these cases, though officials from the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department suggested that this may be cumulative data due to the village’s isolated location in southern Mizoram.
On Sunday, ASF-related fatalities had dropped significantly, with only two deaths reported in Lunglei district and no pigs culled. However, Monday’s numbers included the culling of 13 pigs in Kolasib and Serchhip districts.
