Strong winds likely along and off Kerala coast in next 24 hrs: MET

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 18 (UNI) Strong winds from northwesterly direction speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely along and off Kerala coast in the next 24 hours.
Meteorological Centre here in a release on Thursday said, Thunderstorm accompanied with rain and gusty winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph was likely in Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts during the next 24 hours, the release said.
Strong winds from northwesterly direction speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over Lakshadweep Area during the period.
High waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.5 meters are forecasted from 1730 hrs on July 17 to 2330 hrs of July 19 along the coast of Lakshadweep Islands from Minicoy to Bitra.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
