Steel exporters demand govt intervention, as EC specifies 25 PC safeguard duty

Kolkata, Jul19 (UNI) Faced with the European Commission’s provisional safeguard duty of about 25 per cent on import of steel products through the mechanism of Tariff Rate Quota (TRQs),
the EEPC India has impressed upon the Commerce Department and the Steel Ministry to engage with the EU so that Indian exporters are able to handle the unfolding situation in the European market in a least disturbing manner.
The European Commission has decided to initiate safeguard investigation, publishing implementing regulation for application of the TRQ measures with regard to imports of steel products.
