Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said 74 cyber crime and social media units are being opened in all 38 districts of the state to check cyber crimes and forgery. He said that 60 units would start functioning by the end of this month.
Mr Modi said that ‘cyber senani’ would be posted at each police station to deal with those miscreants trying to disturb social peace and harmony by spreading rumours through social media. Elaborate arrangements are being made to check cyber crimes against women and children.
The state government had decided to depute 100 ‘cyber senanis’ at each police station. He said that more than 40,000 ‘cyber senanis’ had also been appointed. He said that 740 posts had been sanctioned for cyber crime and social media units as six police personnel and four information technology experts would be deputed at each unit.
