Early adolescence is the critical period for vaccination of young girls against HPV, the leading cause of cervical cancer cases. When given before young people become sexually active, the HPV vaccination provides an immense opportunity to reduce the burden of cervical cancer later in life.
Approaches to end violence against young people, outlined in seven approaches in the INSPIRE package (which is cross-referenced by the AA-HA! guidance), include reducing risk factors in public spaces, schools, and other places where young people gather to decrease the threat of violence; addressing gender inequities; and ensuring laws exist and are enforced to prohibit all forms of violence against children and limit youth access to harmful products, such as alcohol and firearms.
