Mr Quadri said, price of crude oil had decreased considerably when Narendra Modi government was voted to power but its benefits could not reach to common man as the government increased excise duty on petrol and diesel.
As per estimate, the government had earned revenue of more than Rs 11 lakh crores from increased excise duty on petrol and diesel, he said adding that it was a clear case of deliberately causing difficulties to poor and common man of the country by the government.
"We appeal to the people to remain prepared to overthrow Narendra Modi government as it has failed to meet their aspirations and did not fulfill any one of the tall promises made during last Lok Sabha elections in 2014", Congress leader said adding that promises were made to provide jobs to two crores youths every year but they had not been given jobs even after four years.
