State taking effective steps to contain spread of COVID-19: HP CM

Shimla, Jul 15(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said his government was taking effective steps for containment of the deadly COVID-19 in the state.

Mr Thakur was speaking during a review meeting with the senior officers of the Health Department.

The Chief Minister said that trading and economic activities have started in the state after the process of unlock. The return of industrial labourers has also begun from other states. However, keeping in view the increase of COVID-19 patients due to people coming from other states, it has been decided by the State Government to keep the industrial labourers in either institutional quarantine or in home quarantine.

The contractor and industrial institutions would be completely responsible for it. They would be allowed to work after their report for COVID-19 is found negative.

Additional Chief Secretary Health RD Dhiman said that e-passes are not being issued presently to the people entering the state. They are being allowed to enter the state on the basis of information being provided to them, however many people are hiding their proper address and identity.

Keeping this in view now every entrant will have to verify the required information and only after certifying this information they would be registered to enter the state otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.
