State marching ahead with double GSDP says CM Biren

Imphal, Jan 24 (UNI) Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated a consultative meeting on food processing cum technology exhibition, at Lamphelpat, Imphal West today.
N. Biren Singh said that the people of Manipur is filled with full of talents and capabilities and Manipur is undoubtedly ‘Jewel of India’.
He stated that the growth rate of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has increased doubled from 4 percent to 8 percent under the present government. Such result shows that with the advent of the present regime, there is economic development in the State, he added.
The revenue collection has increased from around 500 crores to around 900 crores after the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the State, he continued.

The Chief Minister stated that with the support and love of the people, there is a peaceful environment in the last three years. Mentioning that bandhs and blockade is a thing of the past, Chief Minister said that the grievances and problems faced the people in both hills and valley is timely resolved by the government.

The Chief Minsiter thanked the CSIR for supporting the entrepreneurs of the State. He requested CSIR to extend their support to conserve and preserve traditional paddy varieties of the State like Moirang phou, phoudomba etc. He also urged to provide necessary technology for increasing productivity of such paddy varieties.

Stating that the government has introduced ‘Manipur Start-up scheme’ to build strong ecosystems to support and nurture entrepreneurship in the State, he mentioned that hundreds of entrepreneurs have benefitted from the scheme. Similarly, ‘Stand-up Manipur’ would be launched to encourage entrepreneurs belonging to SC, ST, OBC, women, differently-abled etc.

Recognizing the unique identities of each district of the State, Chief Minister opined that the government is planning to recognise each and every districts of the State for producing unique horticultural and agricultural products such as Tamenglong – orange district of Manipur, Pherzwal- ginger district of Manipur etc.
