Stalin submits memorandum of demands to PM

Chennai/New Delhi, June 17 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted him a memorandum of demands under 25 subjects including health, agriculture and school education.
The key demands listed in the memorandum under health subject are adequate allotment of COVID-19 vaccine, abolition of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams, expediting construction of AIIMS in Madurai and establishment of new AIIMS in Coimbatore.
Commencing vaccine production in HLL Biotech unit in Chengalpattu and Pasteur Institute, Coonoor is among the key demand mentioned in the memorandum.
'Repeal of three farm laws' is the key demand mentioned under Agriculture subject in the memorandum.
The key demands listed in the memorandum under School Education subject-- The National Education Policy should be revoked, Release of Grants under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Delinking of the Model School Scheme under Rashtriya Madyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Implementation of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act.
Other key demand in the memorandum includes passing a Bill to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures.
This was Mr Stalin's first visit to Delhi after assuming office as the Chief Minister of the state.
Talking to reporters after the 25-minute meeting, Mr Stalin said he was happy and satisfied with the outcome of the meeting with the Prime Minister.
Mr Stalin said he discussed various developmental projects concerning the state and Mr Modi promised fullest cooperation from the Centre.
Mr Modi also assured that he could be contacted at any time on issues concerning the state.
