Stalin accuses media, RSS of twisting Veeramani's remarks on Lord Krishna

Stalin accuses media, RSS of twisting Veeramani's remarks on Lord Krishna

Chennai, Apr 6 (UNI) Observing that he and his party was not

against Hindus, DMK President M K Stalin on Saturday accused

some media organisations and RSS of twisting the remarks made

by Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) leader K Veeramani against Lord

Krishna, at the time of elections.

He said that Mr Veeramani had not made the remarks at an election

meeting. He had made it at a function held at DK's premises Periyar

Thidal in the city.

Stating that Mr Veeramani did not speak with an intention to insult

Lord Krishna, he said he had only cited some examples.

'But some media organisations and RSS have twisted and launched

a false campaign against the DMK during the elections', he added.

Mr Stalin said Mr Veeramani might not have made such remarks, but

if he had actually made it, it was wrong.

Reiterating that DMK was not against Hindus, he said his wife used

to go to temple twice a day and that he had never stopped her.

He also said a majority of the workers in DMK were Hindus.

'DMK is clear and our leader Anna (late CM C N Annadurai) had said

that God is one. Also Kalaignar (late CM M Karunanidhi) have clearly

stated in the film 'Parasakthi' that 'we don't say want temples should

not be there, but temples should not become a tent for bad ones.'

The DMK was following the same path, he added.

It may be recalled that speaking at an event organised by the DK

recently, on the topic ‘Pollachi Scandal – Irresponsible Brahmin

Behaviour’, Mr Veeramani, who had earlier also courted controversy

for his derogatory remarks against Hindu culture, practices and

Gods, said Lord Krishna should be the first person who should be

booked for the criminal act of eve-teasing.

A couple of days ago, Hindu Munnani cadres pelted stones at a

meeting organised by the DK in Tiruchi for his anti-Krishna remarks.
