Stage set for unopposed elections for 12 seats of UP legislative council

Lucknow, Jan 18 (UNI) Stage is set for an unopposed elections for 12 seats of the biennial Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls when there are same number of official candidates.
However, a 13th candidate Mahesh Chandra Sharma of Kanpur filed his nomination on the last day of filing of the nomination on Monday but his paper is slated to be rejected as it did not have proposers and fee receipt as per the norms.
On Tuesday, all nominations would be scrutinized and on January 21, the last day of withdrawals, all 12 candidates would be declared elected unopposed.
