New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) All eyes will be on the political developments at BJP headquarters on Monday as the ruling outfit is set to replace its one of the most successful party presidents Amit Shah by a soft spoken Jagat Prakash Nadda.
Stage is set for its working president Mr Nadda to be elected to the post unopposed.
Sources said a number of senior leaders including from states and newly elected state unit chiefs are likely to file the nomination papers in support of 59-year old Mr Nadda, who was appointed as working president in June 2019 as a prelude to his election as the new organisational head of the saffron party.
In general sense, Nadda for his amiable personality is seen as the choice of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Shah for the job.
The nomination process for election of new party chief has been fixed on Monday, January 20, party's national election in-charge Radha Mohan Singh announced here on Friday.
According to the schedule, nomination papers can be filed from 1000 hrs to 1230 hrs and the papers will be scrutinised by 1330 hrs.
The nomination can be withdrawn between 1330 hrs to 1430 hrs. "...if necessary polling will take place on January 21," Mr Singh stated adding the voting process, if required will take place between 1000 hrs and 1400 hrs, however - such a scenario looks remote.
Interestingly, in 2013, the BJP's national president poll was marred by high drama as on the last moment, Nitin Gadkari had to withdraw his nomination and the mantle of leadership had fallen on Rajnath Singh.
Born on December 2, 1960 to Narain Lall Nadda and Krishna Nadda, Jagat Prakash was educated at St Xavier's School, Patna.
Thereafter he did his BA from Patna College, Patna University and LLB from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
