Srinagar, Dec 5 (UNI) The summer capital of Union Territory (UT) Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, recorded coldest night of the winter so far at minus 3.5 degree, freezing taps, drains and water bodies near banks.
The water taps of Advisor to Lt Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan had also frozen this morning. "When I went for a bath, I found my taps were frozen," he told media at a function here today.
The night chill will continue due to dry weather and open sky and day temperature will be near or above normal till December 10. However, a fresh Western Disturbance (WD), originating in Arabian sea and entering the region from Afghanistan and Pakistan, has developed and could hit the Jammu and Kashmir on December 11. This WD could result in Widespread (WS) rain or snow in Kashmir valley, Fairly WS in Jammu and Scattered in UT of Ladakh on December 11.
