Colombo, Aug 6 (UNI) Sri Lanka's general elections, held yesterday, concluded on a peaceful note, Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said here.
Senaratne was addressing a media briefing at the Police Headquarters late on Wednesday evening after the polls had ended. He expressed satisfaction that apart from a few minor incidences the election was peaceful.
Sri Lanka's official news portal news.lk quoted him saying that a few incidents were reported from Kuchchaveli, Bogahakumbura, Nittambuwa and Welambada Police areas where several groups were charged for having displayed party symbols and candidate preferential numbers within a radius of 500 metres of the polling centres.
