Sree Chitra in Kerala to commence plasma therapy to treat COVID-19 patients on trial basis.

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 9 (UNI) For the first time in the country, India’s prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in Kerala will commence convalescent plasma therapy to treat COVID-19 patients on a trial basis.
"The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given its approval for the first of its kind project for a clinical trial to use the blood of cured patients to treat critically ill COVID-19 cases," Sree Chitra Director Dr Asha Kishore said here on Thursday.
"We are expecting to start the trials by April end after also getting the required approvals from the Drugs Controller General of India and the Ethics Committee," she added.
