Sr Citizen seeks Gadkari’s intervention for repair of NH-6

Shillong, Oct 24 (UNI) Irked with poor road condition along the National Highway- 6 connecting Meghalaya’s capital Shillong and Barak Valley of Assam, a senior citizen has shot off a letter to Union minister of road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari complaining of the “incompetence and failure of the Meghalaya State Government” in the upkeep of the highway which is a life-line for the region.

Pointing out that the NH-6 connecting Shillong, Meghalaya to Silchar, Assam is in a pathetic condition and “left unattended with at least 80 per cent of the road stretch under potholes,” O.R Shallam of Panaliar, Jowai in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills District sought the immediate intervention of Gadkari to come to the rescue of the people, who have to endure traffic jams and road blocks for agonizing hours on a daily basis due to the worsening condition of the highway.
