SR achieves 100 pc LED lighting in all 714 stations opened for traffic

Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Pursuing the Railway Ministry's initiative to provide energy efficient lighting to help conservation of environment, Southern Railway on Thursday achieved the status of providing 100 per cent LED lighting at all its 714 railway stations that were opened for traffic.
A Railway release here said , as part of energy conservation measures, the Southern Railway has switched over to 100 per cent energy efficient LED lighting in place of conventional Fluorescent Lamps, T5 lamps, CFL lamps and high wattage MH lamps.
LED lighting was the latest technology in the lighting industry and LEDs used in lighting would give better illumination and longer life.
