Sr.Accountant in Kannur district treasury held for siphoning off govt funds

Kannur, Nov 27 (UNI) A senior Accountant in the Kannur district treasury was arrested by police on Saturday for allegedly siphoning off government funds worth around Rs 3 lakh, sanctioned to six beneficiaries.
Acting on a complaint from District treasury officer, police arrested Nidhin Raj Chellattan of Kottali for transferring the funds, including relief funds, sanctioned as part of government assistance for various projects, to his own personal account instead of transferring it to the beneficiaries for the last five years.
District Vigilance Dy Superintendent of Police Babu Peringoth-led team conducted a search at his office on Friday and found the irregularities conducted by Nidhin Raj.
