Speeding truck rams highway workers on Samruddhi Expressway, three dead

Ch. Sambhajinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) A tragic accident claimed three lives on the Samruddhi Expressway in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Friday afternoon when a speeding truck rammed into a group of highway workers sitting nearby for lunch.
The incident occurred around 1.30 pm in the Jaipur area under the jurisdiction of Karmad police station. Three workers died on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries.
According to the information received, five workers employed by Megha Engineering were engaged in repair work of an iron cross barrel on the expressway. After completing the work, the labourers sat down to eat their afternoon meal in the shade between the company’s service truck (MH40BM8048) and a JCB machine (MH20FU3208). The repair work had been undertaken with the required safety barricades placed at the site.
