Spectator gored to death, 32 injured in Jallikattu event in South TN

Theni, Feb 07 (UNI) A 35-year-old man was gored to death and 32 others, including bull tamers were injured in the annual Jallikattu (bull taming) event held at Ayyampatti village in this Southern district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Police said the deceased was identified as S.Murugesan of Chinnamanur. He was walking towards the gallery to watch the event, when a ferocious bull gored him at the collection point. He suffered severe injury on the chest and died on the spot.

Thirty two people sustained injuries, few of them grievously in the event. The injured were admitted to the government hospitals at Theni and Chinnamanur.

As many as 600 registered bulls and 315 bull tamers took part in the Jallikattu, which was organized as part of the Sri Ezhaikathamman temple festival.
