Special session of Pondy Assembly next week

Puducherry, Dec 6 (UNI) A special session of the territorial Assembly is likely to be convened next week to adopt a resolution condemning the move of Karnataka to construct a dam across Cauveri at Meghadatu and to press the Centre to withdraw the permission granted to Karnataka in this regard.
According to official sources, speaker V Vaithilingam would decide the date after due discussions with the concerned.
It may be noted that if Karnataka constructed a dam, at Meghadatu,Karaikal, the tail end of Cauvery will not get water for agriculture. With this in view, the AIADMK legislators and DMK legislator R Siva supporting the government yesterday and observed a dharna in the chamber of the speaker to press him to convene a special session.
