Special officers appointed, control rooms set up at Eluru to handle Phani cyclone

Eluru, Apr 27 (UNI) The district administration has set up a control room and appointed special officers to seven mandals to take all precautions, provide required information and help to the people living in low laying areas in West Godavari district.
District Collector Pravin Kumar said here on Saturday that a control room with toll free number 1800 233 1077 was set up and special officers were appointed to seven mandals including Mogalturu, Narasapuram, Bhimvaram, Kalla, Palcole, Yelamanchili and Poduru.
The Special officers would visit in the mandals, alert people, provide needed information and take steps for the safety of people living low laying areas.
The Collector directed the officials to keep ready JCBs, sand bags, fibre boats and other equipment to remove uprooted trees and polls.
Meanwhile, keeping in view the threat of Phani cyclone, district panchayat officer R Victor directed officials to take steps for sanitation, keep ready bleaching power, phenol and chlorine tables.
He directed officials to keep adequate quantity of diesel to run generators to provide drinking water in the cyclone affected areas, if needed.
He asked to alert the people in law laying area to be ready for evacuation, if needed.
