Sparsh Hospital has acquired capability to conduct complex Hand transplant surgery

Bengaluru, Feb 5 (UNI) The Sparsh Hospital, one of the leading hospital chains in Karnataka, is all set to get permission from the State Government to conduct hand transplant surgeries, after equipping with the state-of-the-art facilities and man-power, Sparsh Group of Hospitals Chairman Dr Sharan Patil said here today.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Dr Patil said that the Sparsh Hospital, which is known for orthopedic speciality, have plans to expand its services across specialties, transforming into a Super Specialty Hospital.
The facilities available includes special units in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, HPB Surgery, liver Transplant, Cardiac Sciences, Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Diabetes/Endocrinology, Nephrology, Urology and Pulmonology.
“We have all set to go for transformation into a super-speciality hospital equipping with some of the most cutting edge technologies for each division, combining it with excellent patient care the brand is known for” he added.
Maintaining that Sparsh Group would be the only and first Hospitals in Karnataka to have facility for Hand transplantation, he said that “we have approached the State Government to give its nod for receiving and treating the patients”.
“Sparsh Hospital will offer forearm transplant service, as it had acquired capability and skill to conduct such hand transplants. The hand-transplant will be done after receiving organ from the brain-dead patient. The procedure involves a whole lot of complex skills in conducting the surgery and Sparsh is all set to launch its services soon”, he added.
Dr Patil, the founder of Sparsh Hospital, said that “we have started with the mission of being a leader in healthcare and serve as a destination for complexities and look for exciting future”.
He also announced about the appointments to head the departments of Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Liver Transplant and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeries.
Replying to a question, Dr Patil said that it was also proposed to foray into Teaching sphere in the coming years.
