Spanish PM calls for rebalancing of trade ties with China

Madrid, Sep 11 (UNI) The Spanish government wants to reduce the deficit in its trade with China while strengthening their commercial ties, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said during a trip to China on Wednesday.
"The Spanish government seeks to strengthen trade and investment relations with China. Undoubtedly, these relations need to be rebalanced... We are concerned about a large trade deficit between Spain and the EU on one side and China on the other," he told a press conference in Shanghai.
Sanchez promised to continue "building bridges" between the European Union and China in order to help them foster a strong relationship. He described China as Spain's "key partner" that held an equally strong global standing as the EU.
