SP MLA Irfan Solanki, brother surrender, arrested

Kanpur, Dec 2 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Irfan Solanki and his brother Rizwan Solanki, who were at large from the couple of weeks after a case was lodged against them on Thursday surrendered before the Police Commissioner after which they were arrested, police sources said here.
Police sources said that along with the family of Irfan, SP MLAs Hassan Roomi and Amitabh Bajpai were also present at the time of surrender. "A case of torching a hut was lodged against Irfan and his brother in November and they have been absconding since then," they said.
A police officer said that non-bailable warrants were also issued against them. "The Kanpur police carried out raids in other states to arrest the accused. Due to continuous efforts of the police they appeared in the office of the Police Commissioner and surrendered. They will be produced in the court and if needed their police custody remand will be sought," he said.
Police sources said that a woman, a resident of Jajmau, has accused Irfan and his brother of torching her hut in an attempt to grab her plot.
