Lucknow, Feb 20 (UNI) Swami Prasad Maurya, who resigned from primary membership of Samajwadi Party (SP) along with the membership of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Tuesday, said ideology is most important in politics and SP has deviated from its ideology.
Talking to reporters, Maurya said that he did not enter politics for the greed of position. "Ideology is important to me. SP has deviated from ideology and that is why I have resigned from the party," he said.
In response to a question, he said that he has ideological differences with SP president Akhilesh Yadav but there is no personal difference. "I don't want to comment on the role of Akhilesh. I will announce the new party on February 22 and the official announcement will be made on the same day," he said.
Maurya said, "I had told Akhilesh that there are some people in SP who are trying to weaken the party. Whenever I try to SP forward, I am stopped. Despite this, Akhilesh did not talk to me, that is why I resigned from the membership also."
He said, "I have also resigned from MLC membership on moral grounds. I have always given priority to the problems of Dalits, tribals and poor farmers of the country in politics. Whenever someone came in my way in terms of ideology and mission, I did not shy away from confronting him, ideology is important in politics, I have left the chair for ideology. For me, ideology is important, not position. I have never done politics for office. I fight for ideology."
The former minister said that Akhilesh gave the slogan of PDA (Pichhda, Dalit and Aplsankhyak), but he himself took air out of it.
