Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) Trailing 0-2, the South Central Railway had staged a remarkable rally to prevail over Punjab National Bank with a 3-2 margin in the final of the 48th SN Vohra's All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium, here.
Both teams played a cautious game on Monday and were goalless till 44th minute, when Satinder Singh dribble his way to score to give Punjab National Bank 1-0 lead.
Hardly had the cheers of Punjab National Bank supporters had died down, the bankmen struck another goal in the 48th minute through Gurjinder.
The South Central Railway opened their flanks and forced a penalty corner in the 49th minute and Pratap did not make any mistaking in coverting it to reduce the margin.
South Central Railway maintained their pressure and were awarded another penalty corner in the 53rd minute. Pratap again displayed his penalty corner skill by converting it to level the score 2-2.
One minute later, South Central Railway snatched the match-winner through MG Poonacha who scored a field goal as SC Railway scored a thrilling 3-2 for the coveted trophy.
The SGGS Club, Sector 26 was adjudged the Most Well Behaved team. Sahib Singh (Hockey Patiala), Prtap Lakra (SC R;y), Sanjay (SGGC-26) and Sukhjit (PNB) were declared the best goalkeeper, the best best full-half, the best half-back and the best forward, respectively.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
