Sonia says sorry to newly elected Congress Legislators for keeping them in Hotel

Bengaluru, May 23 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today offered apology to the newly elected Congress Legislators for confining them in the Hotel rooms for the last one week in view of the current political situation.
After greeting them on their victory in the May 12 election to the Karnataka Assembly, Ms Gandhi told them that "it is unfortunate that you are kept away from your homes for such a long period after victory, but the situation such that there were all possibility of BJP trying to lure and bring pressure by threatening IT raids and other methods to poach and hence you were kept in Hotel remains."
Congratulating them for not falling prey to BJP, Ms Gandhi assured them that "Party will never forget their sacrifice and whenever opportunity comes they will be suitably rewarded.."
At the same time Ms Gandhi asked them to get their grievances, if any, get solved by discussion with concerned head and extend cooperation for the smooth functioning of the coalition government.
Ms Sonia Gandhi and Mr Rahul Gandhi arrived here by special flight to witness the swearing in ceremony in which JDS State President H D Kumaraswamy will be sworn in as Chief Minister and KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara as Deputy Chief Minister.
Mr Gandhi also greeted the newly elected Legislators and lauded their commitment to remain loyal to the party by not falling prey to the efforts of BJP to poach them.
Sources said that Mr Gandhi also pacified senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar who who allegedly disappointed for not offering him Deputy Chief Minister post and had decided to return to his home by boycotting the swearing in ceremony.
