Soni India to focus more on Punjab market for its products

Chandigarh, Oct 22 (UNI) World-leading electronics brand Sony India will focus more on Punjab for its products, keeping in view of the spending power of the region, therefore an important market of the company.
After concluding his three-day tour to Punjab and to access the potential of the region, Soni India Managing Director Kenichiro Hibi said here Punjab is an important market for the company especially during this festival season the demand for the products is better than the other days.
“We have been been widening the our product portfolio in all categories like BRAVIA TV panels, Xperia Smartphones, Alpha cameras, Professional Business solutions, memory cards, car audio, etc. Of these, BRAVIA is the strongest pillar of our business and we have a very strong line-up up to 75 inch in 4K HDR technology and aim to redefine the premium 4K TV segment by continuing to deliver compelling value proposition," Mr Hibi said.
“Audio is another category which is growing at a rapid pace in this region. We have very stylish products in this category. Soundbar market is gaining traction in India now and the new concept of 5.1 channel sound bar is very well accepted,” he said.
“Mobile market dynamics have changed drastically over the past three years. When Sony acquired Ericsson in 2012, there were few major players and the price bracket was not diversified and every player enjoyed a pie of the market. However, in the past three years, the market has become cluttered and many local and foreign vendors have entered India, offering products at even less than Rs 10K. We have made a conscious decision not to operate in the volume game as our objective is to maintain Sony brand imagery by offering technologically advanced products. We have an R&D unit that invests in developing new technology which we are putting in our smartphones to achieve a higher level of customer satisfaction," he asserted.
