Some unkonwn people using inter-state buses to bring fish illegally: MWFMA

Panaji, Nov 10 (UNI) Margao Wholesale Fish Market Association (MWFMA) on Saturday claimed that due to the action of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to stop fish carrying vehicles on border, some unkonwn people were using inter-state buses to bring fish illegally.
In a statement, Margao Wholesale Fish Market Association President Ibrahim Maulana said on Friday, the members of the Association had caught fish being brought illegally at Margao and on Saturday, one inter-state bus was seen unloading fish boxes in Panaji.
''The Association would like to question Health Minister Vishwajit Rane why FDA is not initiating action against these buses which transport fish in spite of ban on interstate imports. Minister should also reply whether these buses are issued FDA licences? We demand that the permit of these buses should be cancelled as they are indulging in illegal activities. The Association members can’t keep on checking each and every bus that arrives in Goa from Maharashtra and Karnataka as its duty of the concerned departments as the staff employed are paid salaries from the state treasury,'' he said.
