Solar scam case: Former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy acquitted

Bengaluru, Oct 7 (UNI) Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy got a major relief as he was acquitted from solar scam by a local court here today for lack of document supporting the allegations.

The senior Congress leader was the fifth acquiesced in a cheating case filed in March 2015 by a Bengaluru-based businessman M K Kuruvila who had alleged that Mr Chandy and five others had taken bribe of Rs 1.35 crore on the promise of helping him set up a franchise to sell solar panels.

Acquitting Mr Chandy, the Court however said that the charges against other accused in the case will stay.

The court, had in October 2016, had asked Mr Chandy and the other five accused to return Rs 1.6 crore to Kuruvila with 12 per cent interest and court expenses within six months.

However, Mr Chandy moved the court, petitioning to set aside the order.

Kolkata, Jun 22 (UNI) The Kolkata Police has directed Rajasthan-based IAS officer - Sanjay Dixit - for appearance on June 29 at its headquarters - Lalbazar - for his alleged posting of a fake notification on behalf of West Bengal government saying the governor is pleased to declare state government holidays for four days on the occasion of Eid from June 12, 2018, in addition to June 16 which has been notified as state holiday.
