Slashing fund for MGNREGA and PMKSY in the union budget is improper: Nitish

Patna , Feb 2 (UNI) Describing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as important factor for development Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that slashing of fund in MGNREGA as well as Prime minister Kisan Samman Yojana (PMKSY) in the union budget was unjustified and improper.
Kumar told news persons at Balhagadia village under Balha Patti Panchayat of Saharsa district on Thursday that the funds in several important schemes have been slashed in the union budget. Describing MGNREGA as an important factor for development, he said that the financial provision for MGNREGA which was Rs 73,000 crore in the financial year 2022-23 has been downsized to Rs 60000 crore. Similarly the fund under PMKSY has also been cut down from Rs 68000 crore in the financial year 2022-23 to Rs 60000 crore in the current budget.
The Chief Minister said that the amount in Prime Minister agriculture irrigation scheme has also been slashed down by Rs 2167 crore whereas national education mission the budget has been cut down by Rs 600 crore. He said that the centre has announced Saptarshi scheme similar to the seven 7 resolves scheme of Bihar second phase of which was already progress in the state. Nothing important has been included in the Saptarshi Yojana, he added.
