SL Navy attacks Indian fishing boats, chases fishermen

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu Oct 20 (UNI) Sri Lankan Naval personnel allegedly attacked several Indian fishing boats, destroyed fishing nets and chased away the fishermen at gun point while they were fishing near the controversial Katchatheevu island, early today.
Fishing nets of atleast 20 fishing boats were destroyed in the mid sea attack, said the local fishermen after returning to Rameswaram fishing jetty. We were forced to retreat from the zone at gun point, they alleged.
However, no one was injured in the attack.
