SL issues red alert for strong winds, rough seas

Colombo, Dec 1 (UNI) Sri Lanka's meteorology department on Friday issued a red alert for strong winds and rough seas as a depression developed over the Bay of Bengal Sea areas.
Issuing a statement, the department said fishing and naval communities in the deep and shallow sea areas in the southwest Bay of Bengal must be weary of strong winds and rough seas as the low-pressure area has developed into a depression.
The weather conditions will turn into a cyclonic storm by Dec. 3, the department said.
