Skeletal remains unearthed in Dharmasthala case

Mangaluru, Sept 9 (UNI) In a sensational development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged mass burial case in Dakshina Kannada district has recovered skeletal remains from Bangale Gudde, a remote forested stretch, during a spot mahazar, lending fresh momentum to the months-long investigation.
The recovery, made in the presence of Soujanya’s relative, Vithal Gowda, included at least two sets of human skeletal remains. According to police, Gowda exhumed a human skull on the instructions of activist Girish Mattannavar, who had secured the information from Chinnaiah — the prime accused in the case, presently lodged in judicial custody.
Senior officials described the discovery as “a major breakthrough,” as it provided physical evidence to corroborate allegations of multiple secret burials in the area. “During the mahazar, the SIT recovered skeletal remains of at least two individuals. This is a shocking development for the investigation team and indicates that more bodies could still be buried in this desolate stretch,” police said.
