SJVNL shutdowns productions after cloud burst in Pooh

Shimla, Aug 8(UNI) Satluj Jal Vidhut Nigam Limited decided to shut down the production of 1500 mega watta Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and 450 mega watt Rampur HPS after cloud burst in Pooh sub division of Kinnuar district along India-China international border.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rampur, Abhimenu Verma confirmed the information that after cloud burst in pooh sub division of Kinnnaur district NJHPS and Rampur HPS would be shutdown with effect from 2015 hrs one by one machine in each time block of 15 minutes.
He said that although the water level or discharge at Nathpa dam would be moderated still the water level in river Satluj downstream of Nathpa may increase.
He said that situation is on alert but very much in control and nothing to worry.
All the stakeholders are requested not to stay near the river bed for their safety and also requested to take domestic animals to safe place away from river bed, he added.
State Disaster Management said that water level in Satluj Rive ris flowing at 1491.8 meter that is four meter of Danger level (1495.50 meter), water level of Karchham Dam in Kinnuar was recorded 1808.92 meter today that is two meter down the danger mark (1810 meter).
Water level of the rest of rivers and Dams in the state was reported normal and below danger mark.
