SJVN, BHEL signs MoU for development of solar power projects in HP

Shimla, Jul 9 (UNI) SJVN Limited entered into a MoU with BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited) for development of Solar Power projects in India, an official statement said here on Tuesday.
The MoU aims at building a closer strategic partnership between the parties for jointly pursuing commercial solar power projects through participation in tariff or viability gap funding based competitive bidding process.
According to the statement, the projects, which would be developed by SJVN, BHEL would be an engineering, procurement, construction and project management ontractor.
The MoU was signed by Chief General Manager (BD&MS) Sanjay Uppal, SJVN Limited and General Manager (REWB), BHEL T K Bagchi at New Delhi . Director (IS&P), BHEL S Balakrishnan was also present on the occassion.
In addition to this BHEL shall also provide operation and maintenance services after commissioning of project.
SJVN Limited has commissioned five projects totalling 2015.2 MW of installed capacity including solar and wind. Company is presently implementing power projects in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar,
Maharashtra and Gujarat in India besides neighbouring countries namely Nepal and Bhutan.
This is one of steps for SJVN towards becoming 5000 MW Company by 2023, 12000 MW Company by 2030 and 25000 MW Company by 2040, the statement added.
