Mumbai, Oct 21 (UNI) Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar will be conferred with with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Sports Journalists’ Association of Mumbai (SJAM) on December 11. The award will be presented to the former India captain on the fourth day of the fourth Test match between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium, SJAM release stated. Earlier, SJAM’s first Lifetime Achievement award was presented to badminton legend Nandu Natekar in September 2013. He made his first class debut playing for Vazir Sultan XI against Dungarpur XI in the quarter-final of the Moin-Ud-Dowlah Gold Cup in October 1966, while made his debut for Bombay in the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mysore at the Brabourne Stadium in March 1970. Widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in cricket history, Gavaskar set world records during his career for the most Test runs and most Test centuries scored by any batsman. He held the record of 34 Test centuries for almost two decades before it was broken by Sachin Tendulkar in December 2005. MORE UNI XC NC SW
