Dhaka, May 18 (UNI) Six people were killed and 12 others injured critically as a bus hit a tree by the Bagerhat-Mawa Highway in Kakdanga area of Fakirhat upazila Bagerhat in Southern district in Bangladesh on Saturday morning.
Three of the deceased were identified as Kuddus Sardar, 60, from Arjunpur village in Koyra of Khulna; Hemayet Biswas, 45, from Kodla village in Mollarhat; and the bus driver Farhad, 45, from Noihati in Rupsa, Khulna.
The driver of the bus lost control over the steering as its tyre exploded and hit the roadside tree, killing five people on the spot, said Fakirhat police station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam.
Another person died at the hospital, police said.
The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital and Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex.
