Balrampur, Feb 15 (UNI) As many as six people, including a woman, were killed while 20 others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said on Saturday.
According to police here, five among the injured are stated to be critical and have been sent to the trauma center.
In one incident, a jeep which was carrying passengers, lost control and overturned into a ditch near the Rajpur Bhariya jungle in the city Kotwali area, late Friday night.
Ravi Srivastava, a resident of Ithiyathok in the Gonda district, Bijlipur resident Durgesh Srivastava, who were on board the jeep were killed on the spot in the accident.
A 24-year-old youth and a 23-year-old woman succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Their identities are yet to be established.
Fifteen people, including Kishna Devi, Kriti, Seema, Manju Devi, Surendra, Ram Sagar, Rajan, Kherunisha, Abdul Khaliq, Suman, Arshad have been admitted to the hospital.
In a separate incident, car driver Azam (34) was killed on the spot in a car-truck collision in the city Kotwali area.
In a similar incident, Feroze (14) was killed when two motorcycles collided near Judikuiya in the Pachpedwa area.
In another incident, a car and jeep collided near Ramnagar at the Balrampur-gaura road, critically injuring Pherai, Sukhdev, Chandra Prakash, Ghulam Hasan and Akhilesh who have been admitted to a hospital.
District Magistrate (DM) Karuna Karunesh, Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma and BJP MLA Palturam visited the district hospital on Saturday and met the injured while assuring them to aid them in every possible manner.
